Acuity Pro v8 Update

This update is for the following v8 builds of Acuity Pro:

 063010, 070510 and 071310

This update will update your program to the latest build, 071910.  You may run the update from the website here or save it to your computer and run it there.  The desktop icon will not change but watch the splash screen after the update to verify the new build.  It will be located in the lower right corner of the Acuity Pro splash screen.  Click on the update link below:

This update will correct a problem in the ETDRS chart where the program would close when using the remote control when attempting to move up or down within that chart.

If you have a different build of v8 than one of the 3 listed above, please contact us for instructions.

Acuity Pro 7.0.6 Update

IMPORTANT!  You MUST uninstall your current version of Acuity Pro before installing this update.  Depending on which previous version you have, you may also need to re-register Acuity Pro and re-calibrate Acuity Pro.  If you have made any macro's or assigned any hot keys or imported any new videos or photos or setup any slide shows, these may also need to be re-done. 

This update is for the following previous versions of Acuity Pro:

7.0     7.0.1      7.0.2      7.0.3       7.0.4      7.0.5

This is NOT an update for the Institutional versions of Acuity Pro.  Contact VisionScience Software for update information if you have the Institutional version.

This update is the complete installation CD.  Once saved and extracted into the destination folder "c:\aptemp", you may burn all the files to a CD of your own and use it as an installation CD.

Save the file below to your computer by either clicking on the file name below (AP706.exe) and choosing 'Save' or right clicking on it and choosing 'Save Target As'.

Once downloaded, locate the file on your computer at "c:\aptemp" and double click on the file and it will begin the extraction process.

Once the files have been extracted, you may either install it from that location by clicking on the file entitled "Install" or burn an installation CD with all files included and install it the traditional way. 

The update includes the following:

  • Corrects problems with VISTA and XP SP3 machines not saving calibration or allowing completion of setup
  • Improved "Auto Configuration" of remote control
  • Simplified calibration procedure
  • Simplified Import utilities for photos and videos
  • Option for removing the 20/10 line from displays
  • Eliminates need for Administrator privileges
  • Dual monitor support for mixed monitors (different size, aspect ratio & resolution)

Latest Drivers for Acuity Pro Remote Control (Windows XP and VISTA)
Save the file below to your computer by either clicking on the file name below (APRCDrivers.exe) and choosing 'Save' or right clicking on it and choosing 'Save Target As'.  Once downloaded to the computer where Acuity Pro is installed, double click on the file name to install the newest driver for the Acuity Pro Remote Control.  If your remote control is working you don't need this update.  If you are having problems with the computer recognizing the remote control receiver when it is plugged in, you should use this file.  If you purchased Acuity Pro after 9/15/2007 you will not need this driver, it is included in the Installation package of Acuity Pro after this date.

Flash Player Installation File

If you receive a runtime error when attempting to go into the video player of Acuity Pro, you may need to re-install the flash player.  Download the file below and install it on your computer to install the player.  Right click on the link below and select 'Save' or 'Save Target As'.  Once downloaded, double click on the file and it will install.  Now the video player in Acuity Pro should be functional.

Hangman for Ophthalmological Terms

If you like word games and want to test your skills at ophthalmological terminology, download Eyeball Hangman.  Click and Save to your computer then install it.  There are other word lists besides eyeball stuff so the rest of the family can play too!

If your Acuity Pro videos are choppy or will not work after an upgrade of the Windows video player you may need to reactivate the old video codec.  If the codec is no longer on your computer you may download it below and follow the same instructions, they are as follows:

Confirm that the file entitled 'msdxm.ocx' is in the directory C:\Windows\System32 folder.  If not, download it below and copy and paste it there.

For Windows XP, click on Start-Run and type:
 regsvr32 c:/windows/system32/msdxm.ocx in the window and press the Enter key.
You should receive a message indicating that msdxm.ocx was successfully registered.  Now you may restart Acuity Pro and test the videos.  This should correct the problem. 

For Windows 7, click on All Programs - Accessories - Run and type:
regsvr32c:/windows/system32/msdxm.ocx in the window and press the Enter key.
You should receive a message indicating that msdxm.ocx was successfully registered.  Now you may restart Acuity Pro and test the videos.  This should correct the problem.
